AT the USA Swimming House of Delegates meeting, current chair of the Rules & Regulations Committee Bruce Stratton won the election to replace outgoing two-term USA Swimming President Jim Wood. USA Swimming recognized volunteers, coaches and athletes at its award presentation on Friday night. Headlining the list of award winners was Olympic gold-medalist Ryan Lochte, who won the ConocoPhillips Performance award for his gold-medal-winning performance in the 200m IM at the 2010 Mutual of Omaha Pan Pacific Championships. IN the middle of USA Swimming's annual convention in Dallas, Texas, Mark Schubert took a paid leave of absence effective immediately from his duties as USA Swimming's national team head coach. A development that can only be described as shocking, USA Swimming released a statement to Swimming World saying that "Out of respect for individual privacy, and as a matter of policy, USA Swimming does not comment on personnel issues." The Florida Swimming Nominating Committee has posted their recommended slate of officers for the 2011 Florida Swimming Board of Directors. Elections will take place at the Annual Convention on October 3 in the House of Delegates meeting. Nominations will be accepted from the floor. COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - The U.S. Olympic Committee (USOC) today announced swimming star Ryan Lochte as its August Athletes of the Month. At the 2010 ConocoPhillips National Championships held August 3-7 in Irvine, Calif., Lochte (Daytona Beach, Fla.) won a total of three events (200m back, 200m IM, 400m IM). His win against Olympian Michael Phelps in the 200m IM was his first head-to-head win against Phelps in the 200m IM in a major competition.
