Election for FL Junior Athlete Representative to the 2011-2012 Florida Swimming Board of Directors will be held on Saturday, July 23, 2011 during prelims of the “2011 Florida Swimming LC Senior Championship”, in Fort Pierce, FL. Candidate application will also be accepted on Thursday & Friday, at the meet. A ballot box will be open for voting from 9:00 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. on deck at the meet. This is a reminder to all FL Chartered Clubs that the deadline for applying for the “Irene & Bud Hackett Award” is July 11, 2011. The two $1,000.00 awards goes to one male and one female high school senior each year. Applications received in the FS office on Monday, July 11, 2011 will also be considered. 2 Florida Swimming competitors did very well at the US National 10K, and 5K held in Ft. Lauderdale, FL on June 10-12.  Claire Thompson (WFLA) finished 5th in the 10k to qualify for the US National Team, and Becca Mann (CAT) finished 2nd in the 5K. Full Results

The 2011 Florida Swimming Open Water Championships are now completed, and the Gulf Coast Swim Team has won their 4th consecutive open water team title in the event.  Top 5 teams were Gulf Coast Swim Team (GCST) 177, Swim Florida (SWIM) 77, and Bolles School Sharks (BSS) 21, Lakewood Ranch Waver Runners (LRYW)  20, and Carrollowod Village Swim Team (CVST) 19. Florida Swimming Open Water All-Stars won the All-Star Challenge over the Florida Gold Coast Open Water All-Star team for the 2nd consecutive year of the event.  The competition was close this year with a final score of  288.5 to 262.5.  Full Results, and Team Scores can be found here.
