Clubs of USA Swimming: Last month, the USA Swimming House of Delegates approved important legislation enhancing existing safeguards for the Safe Sport Program. Two of these pieces, Articles 305.3.6 and 305.3.7, require clubs to implement (1) an action plan to address bullying and (2) a policy guiding electronic communication between adults and athletes, respectively. Birth Certificates are no longer required for registration of new athlete members as of Sept. 1st, 2012.  It is suggested that clubs collect birth certificates to verify the athletes age and name as you input them into your team database.  If you have any questions about registration, please contact the Florida Swimming Office at  352-242-5145 or by e-mail at [email protected].

The new background check program with Acxiom (now Sterling InfoSystems) launched in January 2011 and those checks are good for 24 months. This means that between now and April, we expect over 30,000 USA- S non-athlete members to renew their background checks. In preparation for that, I want to share information with you on the renewal process: 1. There is no Level I or Level II with renewal checks.
