Recertification Time
What do you need to do to recertification.
- Stroke and Turn Judges
- You will need to take the online Stroke and Turn Judge Clinic and Assessment located in the USA Swimming University. It is accessible after you log into the USA Swimming website, click on education at the top, and select course catalog.
- You need to have worked 8 qualified recertification sessions*, as Stroke & Turn or higher, at a minimum of 2 different meets within a 3-year period.
- Starters
- You will need to take the online Starter Clinic and Assessment located in the USA Swimming University, which is accessible after you log into the USA Swimming website, click on education at the top, and select course catalog.
- You need to have worked 8 qualified recertification sessions* within a 3-year period as Starter.
- Recertifying starter also recertifies S&T.
- Admin Officials
- You will need to take the online Admin Officials Clinic and Assessment located in USA Swimming University, which is accessible to you after you log into the USA Swimming website, click on education at the top, and select course catalog.
- Need to have worked 8 qualified recertification sessions*, within a 3-year period, as an AO
- Referees
- You will need to take the online Referee Clinic and Assessment located in USA Swimming University, which is accessible to you after you log into the USA Swimming website, click on education at the top, and select course catalog.
- Need to have worked 16 qualified recertification sessions*within a 3-year period, with at least 8 qualified sessions in any Referee position.
- Recertifying as a referee also recertifies ST, SR, AO, and CJ (if you already have the CJ certification)
- Chief Judge (CJ)
- Worked 16 qualified recertification sessions* within a 3 year period, with at least 8 sessions as CJ or Referee.
- Recertification as a CJ also recertifies you as ST.
*What is a qualified recertification session?
Must meet the following criteria:
1) The session must include strokes and/or relays;
2) The session must not be a Time Trial;
3) The session must not contain only freestyle events, even if including both individual freestyle events and freestyle relays;
4) The session must occur at a meet which is either a Sanctioned USA Swimming meet, a YMCA meet for which an LSC has issued an approval (as defined in USA Swimming Rule 202.6), or, for no more than 25% of any official’s total required Qualified Recertification Sessions, an NCAA National or Conference Championship meet.
5) High School sessions and/or Observed sessions do not qualify
