Byron Plapp Scholarship Recipients

Don Henshaw

Happy to announce the two recipients of scholarships for 2025. We were able to do this because of the extreme generosity of several donors and the support of the Bolles School Sharks and the Bolles School.

Emma K. Best will receive the principal $3,500 award.

Emma writes:

I plan to attend the University of West Florida to pursue a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry, with the goal of attending medical school afterward. I hope to use my medical career to advocate for others and make a meaningful impact in their lives. I moved from Rochester, Illinois, during my sophomore year of high school and have since attended Cape Coral High School. There, I’ve been on the high school swim team, and served as team captain for the past two years. I also swim competitively with Swim Florida—Cape Coral site.

Colin P. Gibbons has been awarded $1,500.

Colin will attend the University of Notre Dame. Colin attended Oviedo High School and swam for the Blue Dolphin swim club. He plans to study Mechanical Engineering.

Congratulations to these two applicants and thanks to all of the other applicants for participating in the process this year and to their sponsors and references for taking time to support these outstanding young people.
