2025 FLORIDA ZONE TEAM APPLICATION INFORMATION

 Florida Swimming shall select twelve (12) female and twelve (12) male athletes from both the 

11-12 and 13-14 age groups to represent Florida at the 2025 Southern Zone Age Group Championships. This year’s meet will be held in Orlando, FL on July 30 – August 3. 

General Information: 

All on-site transportation, lodging, meals, entry fees, and team gear are arranged for and provided by Florida Swimming. All athletes selected for the team must be able to commit 

to meeting the team on Tuesday, July 29th (location TBD), and must remain with the team until pick up on Sunday, August 3rd (location TBD). 

Swimmers are selected well in advance of the meet in order to guarantee that they can be fully prepared for the 2025 Southern Zone Age Group Championship meet. When a swimmer accepts their selection and is named to the team, Florida Swimming expects that they are committing to preparing for the Zone meet as their primary rest/shave/taper meet of the 2024 long course season. 

Eight (8) swimmers from the 11-12 and 13-14 age groups and gender will be selected based on applications submitted no later than 5:00pm Friday, May 2nd. Athletes will be notified of their selection on or before Friday, May 16th. 

The additional four (4) swimmers will be selected from the 2025 Florida Swimming Summer Age Group Championships (July 10-13, 2025). 

The cost for the trip will be $525 (includes parade pack). Applications, when submitted, will require a $100 deposit. The deposit will be refunded only if an athlete is not selected to the team. Refunds for non-selected athletes will be processed by July 18th.. 

The deposit will NOT be refunded if an athlete that has been selected and accepted a team spot later withdraws from the team. 

Eligibility: 

• Athletes must be registered 2025 Florida Swimming Premium or Outreach members in good standing 60 days as of the first day of the meet, Wednesday, July 30, 2025. 

• Athletes must apply for the appropriate age group based on the age they will be on the first day of the meet, Wednesday, July 30, 2025. 

• Athletes must have competed in two long course competitions during the months of 

April through July 2025, prior to competing at the Zone Championships. This will ensure that proper training and competition leading up to the Zone Championships has occurred. 

• Any athlete who has qualified for an event in the 2025 USA Swimming Summer Junior National Championships prior to the meet entry deadline cannot swim that event or relay leg in the 2025 Zone Championships. 

Adaptive (Disabled) Athletes: 

Adaptive athletes, between the ages of 11-18 years of age, are ENCOURAGED to apply for the FL Age Group Zone Team. Adaptive athletes will be in addition to the 48 athletes selected from FLAGS. There are no qualifying standards for selection. Swimmers’ disability must satisfy the definition of a disability as outlined in USA Swimming’s Rules & Regulations 105.1.1. 

May 2nd Application Selection Criteria: 

Swimmers will apply using their best times up to from the 2024-2025 short course yards (SCY) season. The Head Zone Coach along with Florida Swimming’s Age Group chair will fill out the roster using the criteria listed below:
