FL SWIMMING COVID-19 LETTER
Dear Florida Swimming Family,
These last few months have been, and still will be, a very tumultuous time for all of us. Beginning with the cancellation of Senior Champs four months ago, we never expected to be faced with events like this. While we are devastated by the events and changes brought with COVID-19, here at Florida Swimming we are doing everything we can in order to return to a safe, realistic season that not only protects our athletes but our coaches, officials, staff, and fans as well. This is our top priority.
A recent survey went out to clubs within Florida Swimming and out of the 63 clubs that responded, 80% have returned to practice with 90% having multiple swimmers per lane. With this in mind, we are taking the necessary steps needed in order to safely sanction new meets and promote safe racing.
This is a slow and difficult process, but we need to keep looking forward. In order to do this, we strongly encourage you to follow the safety guidelines put in place by the CDC and local ordinances, such as wearing masks and social distancing when possible. If we all collectively do our part, we can have a moderately quicker return to our meets and a normal racing season.
If you ever have questions or would like further information, we strongly encourage you to reach out to us, whether that be Twitter (@FloridaSwimLSC), Instagram (@floridaswimming), or email ([email protected]). If you are an athlete with questions regarding return to practice or have a general question, please reach out to our Athlete Representatives ([email protected]).
Now, more than ever, we must come together and do our part to protect ourselves and those around us. When traveling outside of your house - whether to practice, for errands, or such - it is essential that you wear a mask and are socially distancing. As we begin to return to a competitive season, we encourage you to keep the best interest of those around you in mind. We are beginning to see the light at the end of the tunnel and all that we ask is that you continue to keep the safety of yourself and others in mind as we return to competition.
