FGC Official Mike Fish Passes Away
I’m extremely heart-broken to deliver some very sad news to you tonight. A loved, appreciated and valuable member of the swim officiating community in our state is no longer with us. Florida Gold Coast Official Mike Fish passed away today after succumbing to injuries sustained when he was struck by a car while riding his bicycle in South Florida. Mike had been a USA Swimming official for seven years, both here in Florida and Albany, New York, and was a valued member of our greater swimming community.
The Fish family recently moved to Florida and many of you probably know of Kathy and Mike’s dedication to both YMCA and USA Swimming here in Florida. They both offered their expertise and help during our 2010 FHSAA High School State Championships in Orlando, and they have been tireless volunteers at swim meets and training new swim officials in both Florida Swimming and Florida Gold Coast Swimming LSCs.
Our thoughts and prayers go to his wife Kathy, children Hannah and Jared and the entire Florida Gold Coast and YBC swim team family.
The Florida Swimming Officials group will be remembering Mike by whatever means the family chooses. If you wish to make your sentiments known to the family, please don’t hesitate to let Kathy, Hannah and Jared know via email at [email protected]. New and updated information will be posted on the Florida Gold Coast Swimming website.
Thanks,
Melissa
