USA SWIMMING NAMES JUNIOR PAN PAC TEAM

Forty-six of the nation’s fastest up-and-coming swimmers have been named to the Junior Pan Pacific Championship Team. The competition will take place, August 26-30 at the Kihei Aquatic Center in Maui, Hawaii. The meet will feature the top National Youth Teams from the Pacific Rim, including the U.S., Canada, Japan and Australia.

Athletes earned a trip to Junior Pan Pacs by being one of the top two athletes in Olympic events in the combined results of the ConocoPhillips National Championships, held August 3-7, and the Speedo Junior National Championships held August 9-12. Both events took place in Irvine, Calif.

Jasmine Tosky (Palo Alto, Calif.), who won five individual medals at Junior Nationals, is slated to represent Team USA in Hawaii. On the men’s side, David Nolan (Hershey, Pa.) qualified for the most events, with bids in the 200m freestyle, 200m IM, 100m butterfly and 100m backstroke.

John Morse of Nashville will serve as the women’s head coach, while Scott Armstrong of North Baltimore Aquatic Club will serve as the men’s head coach. A complete roster of the U.S. team can be found online here.

USA Swimming is the host of the 2010 Junior Pan Pacific Championships. The meet was previously held at the Kihei Aquatic Center in 2005 and 2007. Admission to the championships is free.
