Jr. Nats Day 3: Caldwell wins 400m free, breaks meet record
Nicholas Caldwell won his second event of the meet and set a meet record in the prelims of the men’s 400m free Wednesday at the Speedo Junior National Championships in Irvine, Calif. His winning time of 3:52.88 in finals was just 56-hundredths off the meet record of 3:52.32 he set in prelims.
Also winning their events Wednesday were Jasmine Tosky and Seth Stubblefield. Tosky won her third individual event of the meet Wednesday in the women’s 100m butterfly, while Stubblefield won his second individual event of the meet in the men’s 100m fly.
Palo Alto Stanford Aquatics still leads the combined team scoring with 164 points, but the Sarasota YMCA Sharks have closed the gap a little with 144 points, followed by Dynamo Swim Club with 132 points.
