The majority of these parent education articles are reprints from the Swim Parents Newsletter, a monthly publication by the American Swimming Coaches.  It was published from 1987 through 1991.  Most of these articles where written by Guy Edson, John Leonard, or by volunteer Editor Terry Laughlin.  Other Swim Parent Newsletter articles were written by an assortment of coaches and other experts and in those cases we have given credit to the specific authors.

The purpose of this collection of parent education articles is to give parents an authoritative outside voice on a wide range of  educational topics.  These include Athlete Development, The Swim Program, Practices, Swim Meets, Coaching, Parenting, Motivation and Nutritional/Medical Information.  You may not agree with all the opinions expressed in the following articles, but it will give you an idea of what some experts in the field of swimming believe.

We will add new articles to this section periodically, so be sure to check back.
