FS Senior Champ's Under Way- The 2009 Florida Swimming Spring Senior Championships are underway at the YMCA Aquatic Center, in Orlando and the Sarasota YMCA Sharks (SYS) are off to a quick start.  SYS was by Nicholas Caldwell (15), who set a new Junior Olympic Record in the 15-16 Boys 1000 Yard Freestyle with a time of 9:11.94.  The meet continues tomorrow morning with Prelims at 9:00 am and continues through Finals on Sunday evening.

SR Champ's Day 2 - Two J.O. Records Fall- The second day of the 2009 Florida Swimming Spring Senior Championships is now history and so are the old Junior Olympic Records in the 15-16 Girls 200 Yard Freestyle and the 100 Yard Butterfly.  In the 200 Freestyle, Stephanie Peacock (16) of Swim Florida (SWIM) lowered the record by almost a full second with her time of 1:47.47.  In the 100 Butterfly, no less than four girls swam times under the old record.  In this mornings Preliminaries, Alexandria Merritt (15), of Area Tallahassee Aquatic Club (ATAC) and Megan Fonteno (15) of the Bolles School Sharks (BSS) both swam under the old record.  Then at tonight's Finals, the assault on the 100 Butterfly record continued with top three finalists (Heather Coutts (16) of BSS; Shaun Casey (15) Daytona Beach Speed (DBS); and Fonteno) all under the record the old record.  When all the waves cleared, it was Fonteno who came away with the new record time of :55.00.

In the Team Scoring Race, it is BSS leading the way with 718.00 points, followed by the Sarasota YMCA Sharks with 495.50 points in second.  Third place is currently held by SWIM with 317.00 points, fourth is being held by St. Petersburg Aquatics (SPA) with 244.00 points.  The meet continues tomorrow morning with Prelims at 9:00 am and continues through Finals on Sunday evening.

SR Champ's Day 3 - Three More J.O. Records Fall- Day 3 of the 2009 Florida Swimming Spring Senior Championships is now in the books and along with all of today's swims came three more Junior Olympic Meet Records. The first came in this morning's preliminaries where Tommy Gutman (16) of the Bolles School Sharks (BSS) swam a :20.62 in the 15-16 Boys 50 Yard Freestyle.  Then in the evening's Finals, Kaitlin Frehling (16) of St. Petersburg Aquatics (SPA) picked up the 15-16 Girls 50 Yard Freestyle J.O. Record with a :23.10.  The final record setting performance of the day came from Nicholas Caldwell (15) of the Sarasota YMCA Sharks (SYS) in the 15-16 Boys 200 Individual Medley, where he went a 1:50.80.

In the Team Scoring competition, BSS continues to hold on to the lead with 1,223.00 points followed by SYS holding second place with  848.00 points.  Currently in third place is Swim Floirda (SWIM) with 557.00 points, in fourth place is SPA with 456.00 points and rounding out the Top 5 teams is Highlander Aquatic Club (HIGH) with 287.00 points.  The meet concludes tomorrow at the YMCA Aquatic Center with Prelims at 9:00 am and followed by Finals on Sunday evening.

Bolles Takes FS Senior Champ's Team Title- The Bolles School Sharks (BSS) have come away with the team title at the 2009 Florida Swimming Spring Senior Championships held this weekend at the YMCA Aquatic Center in Orlando.  BSS racked up 1,897.00 points over the 3 and a half day meet, while second place Sarasota YMCA Sharks (SYS) scored 1,331.00 points.  Swim Florida (SWIM) finished in third place with 833.00 points, fourth went to St. Petersburg Aquatics (SPA) and fifth place to Highlander Aquatic Club (HIGH) with 407.00 points. 

In the Individual High Point Standings, Lauren Piper (16) of SPA scored 108.00 points in the 15-16 Girls Age Group and Melanie Margalis (17) also from SPA scored 116.00 points in the Senior Girls Age Group to take home the titles.  For the Boys, Nicholas Caldwell (15) of SYS scored 111.00 points in the 15-16 Boys Age Group and Olympian Ryan Lochte (24) of Daytona Beach Speed (DBS) racked up 120.00 points in the Senior Boys Age Group to take home the titles.

In today's individual events two more records fell.  Riley Flanagan (16) of the Gator Swim Club (GSC) set a new Junior Olympic Record in the 15-16 Girls 200 Individual Medley with a time of 2:01.25.  The other record came in the 15-16 Boys 1650 Freestyle where Justin Kaisrlik (15) of Fast Lane Aquatic (FSLA) set a new Junior Olympic Record with his time of 15:35.19.  In the same event, Johnny Silvers (16) of SYS also swam under the the old record.
